Tam's Guest House

The place do exist but the location on the map is wrong. Correct location is in Tam's café. Nice place.

Tam and his staff were all very friendly and made me feel at home. The room was basic but fine and very good for the price. Good dinner and breakfast too and tbey even took me to the station and helped me buy my ticket. Couldn’t have been more helpful. ||||Best thing was the tour round the DMZ which Tam arranged. Mr. Hoa, a very knowledgeable guide who had himself fought in the war took myself and four others round all the sights giving lots of historical information and his personal experience. He managed to answer allourcquestions yoo. We went to a cemetery, to a US bunker, to a museum about the war and the bridge which divided North and South. We also went to the Vinh Moc tunnels which was fascinating. This was a unique experience and I really learnt a lot and I recommend the tour to anyone interested in the Vietnam war or, as they say here, the American war. Reallly worthwhile! The price was also very reasonable: 35 dollars for a whole day.

I took advantage of the freebie transfer (motorbike, pancho supplied)) to this interesting hostel (I had single room, very clean, modern, basic, private bath). The café menu has some cheap and excellent choices.This is an excellent base if you want to arrange a DMZ tour with veteran, English-speaking "Hoa.". Most incredible were the tunnels and the guide explaining the history of all the major military sites. The hosts are exceedingly accommodating and familiar with nearby attractions, countries.

Tam and his family are some of the most beautiful and welcoming people you could ever meet! From the free pickup and drop off at the station, to the cute cafe out the front serving huge portions of delicious food, this place is definitely one I'd recommend. Tam has wonderful stories about his life and Dong Ha that he is more than willing to share, and the tour to the DMZ organised through the guest house is brilliant. The room is clean, air conditioning and hot water work well.

The hostel is nice and new. Please be aware that it is not in the city center, never the less the city of Dong Ha do not offer much. It's the best place for planning a DMZ tour. Staff is very kind, helpful and the cook prepares delicious dishes. I had the pleasure to do the DMZ tour with Hoa, he has been a super nice guide, very prepared and friendly.||I definitely recommend this structure if you are willing to dive into the history of the American war.

I already booked the DMZ with Tam, so it seemed the best to stay at his guesthouse the night before.|The guesthouse is simple, but clean. Our room had al the basics and more, like private bathroom with hot shower, airco.|For me, the bed felt "synthetic", so I used my own sheet bag, but the bed was clean.|Breakfast is not included, but certainly OK.|Nice chats with the staff in the evening and during breakfast ||Quiet location, bit far from the centre.

Tam's is a great place to stay if leaving the next morning with Mr. Hoa to do the DMZ tour. The bed was not very comfy because the mattress was quite hard and wrapped in plastic, but guess that's more hygienic.||The breakfast prepared by Tam's mother is good. Also the people are very friendly and like to help you with anything you need.

Gave higher review rating than I first was tempted to give because of good advice and information. Stayed a couple of nights here. Booked a good tour of the DMZ zone through here. Very informative at better price you would get from further away. Food was good at good price. We were collected from train station for free and taken to onward bus. Comfortable rooms quite new. Clean bedding and towels. Air con, WiFi. Shame I had to clean the sink though, it was absolutely filthy with grime and old toothpaste. Hopefully the cleaning will improve, shame to spoil nice place with something so basic.
